Dans la paix qui suit le traité d'Atlantis avec les Wraiths, la planète natale de Ronon Dex, Sateda, se reconstruit après l'attaque dévastatrice qui a failli anéantir sa civilisation.
Dans l'espoir de restaurer l'électricité dans la capitale, Ronon et le docteur Radek Zelenka se portent volontaires pour aider les Satédiens à remettre en service une centrale hydroélectrique désaffectée dans les montagnes surplombant la ville. Mais lorsque leur amie, Mel Hocken, disparaît lors d'un vol de reconnaissance au-dessus des montagnes, Ronon et Zelenka se retrouvent à la tête d'une mission de recherche et de sauvetage.
En suivant la trace de Hocken jusqu'à la profonde mine de Wild Blue, ils découvrent un peuple dangereux et méfiant pour qui la guerre contre les Wraiths est loin d'être terminée...

In the peace following Atlantis' treaty with the Wraith, Ronon Dex' homeworld of Sateda is rebuilding after the devastating Wraith cull that almost destroyed its civilization.
Hoping to restore electric power to the capitol, Ronon and Dr. Radek Zelenka volunteer to help the Satedans reclaim a mothballed hydroelectric power station in the mountains above the city. But when their friend, Mel Hocken, goes missing during a reconnaissance flight over the mountains, Ronon and Zelenka find themselves leading a search and rescue mission instead.
Tracking Hocken into the deep Wild Blue mine, they discover a dangerous and suspicious people for whom the war with the Wraith is far from over...
