OPENING SEQUENCE
[Head with eyes closed, crown, belly and left arm, right hand, mouth and chin, body, yellow eye and face of Aset are revealed]
OPENING TITLE
EXT-GIZA, EGYPT, 1928, DAY
[A car drives along a desert road towards a busy and crowded archaeological site. The car's occupants, including Catherine and her father, then rush to the center of the site. Catherine begins to look at some of the smaller artifacts catalogued on one of the side tables. She is fascinated by a gold necklace; on its chain is a gold pendant with an intricate design, including the symbol of the Eye of Ra]
LANGFORD (off-screen)
Catherine, come.
[Catherine follows her father and the other man to another section of the site. Dozens of workers are using ropes to pull a large stone ring upright - the Stargate]
INT - WAREHOUSE, 10 YEARS LATER, DAY
[The Stargate is installed in the middle of a warehouse]
JAMES
What is it, Cat?
CATHERINE
We still don't know.
JAMES
Metal?
CATHERINE
Most archaeological finds from this period are stone, but not this one. My father believes it's melted meteorite.
JAMES
Ten years of research and you're still not sure.
CATHERINE
These things take time. And no more money means no more research. Not here, at least.
[She fiddles with the necklace around her neck]
JAMES
Well, I'm grateful for the mystery. Otherwise, our chance encounter at the market may have never come to pass.
CATHERINE
That would have been tragic.
[She puts her hands on his shoulders and approaches him. He becomes nervous]
JAMES
I...Hum. I'm awfully excited to meet your father. He's a fine and fascinating fellow.
CATHERINE
You're cute when you're nervous.
[She tries to kiss him but they are interrupted]
LANGFORD
It's true, young man. I am fascinating.
CATHERINE
Father, there you are.
LANGFORD
You said that a Captain James Beal would be stopping by to say hello, and...see our little sphinx here.
JAMES
Yes, sir. Pleased to meet you, sir.
LANGFORD
Pleasure is mine. Have you any money on you? To help with the cause.
JAMES
Well, I didn't...
LANGFORD
I'm pulling your leg. Will you be joining us for supper? I'll teach you how to write your name in ancient hieroglyphs.
JAMES
Sounds delightful.
LANGFORD
Excellent. My apologies for arriving so late, I was... Well, I was waylaid by a telegram. It seems our old friend Deitrich, my...partner in all this madness, won't be returning.
CATHERINE
What?
LANGFORD
He was in Berlin dredging up backers for our work.
CATHERINE
What was his message?
LANGFORD
It is so odd.
[We can read on a telegram: "Doctor Langford, I regret to inform that our contacts in Germany have not come through as we had hoped. This will be my last missive. Goodbye dear friend."]
LANGFORD
Just a curt goodbye and nothing more. It's not how I imagined he would leave us. Maybe this really is over. Well, I do hope you're hungry.
[Langford walks away, James and Catherine follow him]
CATHERINE
He's actually a terrible cook, so beware.
JAMES
All right.
CATHERINE
Thank you.
JAMES
You think so?
CATHERINE
Yeah.
INT-WAREHOUSE-PERSONAL QUARTERS
[A menorah is on a coffee table. Catherine and her father are chatting, sitting on armchairs drinking red wine]
LANGFORD
He's very nice.
CATHERINE
Stop it. Yes, he is. Though, it's still all very new.
LANGFORD
And your eyes are still all lit up. Catherine, I hope you realize you don't have to leave Egypt on my account.
CATHERINE
I'm not. Owens, at the museum was so impressed with my cataloging of our Giza artifacts that he offered me a position.
[Her father stands up, bewildered by the news. He clears his throat, she puts her glass on the table, annoyed]
CATHERINE
I thought you'd be proud of me.
LANGFORD
No, Catherine. I am, but...our work, this is your legacy as well.
CATHERINE
You just said it was over. Where is the money coming from this time?
LANGFORD
Now, that's none of your concern, is it?
CATHERINE
It's none of my concern? I spent my entire childhood living your work.
LANGFORD
And now you're being stubborn.
CATHERINE
You're being ridiculous and condescending!
LANGFORD
You never take even a moment to slow down and think before you act. You are just like your mother.
[Shocked, she gets up and leaves]
LANGFORD
Catherine!
INT-WAREHOUSE- CATHERINE'S BEDROOM
[Furious, she sits down in front of a mirror and tries to calm herself by talking to herself]
CATHERINE
What're you doing, Catherine?
INT-WAREHOUSE
[Suddenly, a noise emanates from the shed. A car stops. Three Nazis approach, Langford looks at them, concerned. Nazis speak German among themselves. Catherine looks on discreetly]
BRUCKE
It is here. I don't believe this. It's really here. It's really, truly here.
[He watches his parchment and the Stargate]
BRUCKE
Look, exactly like the hieroglyph.
[Brucke gives his orders to Stefan and Gunter]
INT-WAREHOUSE- CATHERINE'S BEDROOM
[Catherine looks out her bedroom window and sees the German]
INT-WAREHOUSE
[A Nazi woman approaches the Nazi leader and touches his arm]
EVA
I'm so proud of you. Come. Yeah.
[She asks him to sit in front of the Stargate and starts filming]
BRUCKE
Behold, the gateway to history...
LANGFORD
Hello? Excuse me?
BRUCKE
...is finally...
LANGFORD
Please, stop. Stop. Please, stop. May I help you?
BRUCKE
My most sincere apologies. You must be Professor Paul Langford.
LANGFORD
I am, and...
BRUCKE
My name is Dr. Wilhelm Brucke. Chief occultist to the Fuhrer. I feared we might never find you. Although, it is to be expected, since the world has forgotten you exist.
LANGFORD
I beg your pardon?
BRUCKE
Do you have any idea what you have uncovered here?
LANGFORD
We have some theories, yes.
BRUCKE
I come with more than theory.
LANGFORD
Looking through the prism of several dead languages...
BRUCKE
Have you ever seen this before?
[Brucke shows Langford a scroll]
LANGFORD
Where did you find this?
BRUCKE
I procured it from a felonious little spice dealer in Thailand two years ago.
LANGFORD
I don't understand.
BRUCKE
Surely, you are familiar with the recent theory of Einstein-Rosen bridges.
LANGFORD
I still don't understand.
[Catherine hides behind some crates and tries to approach the group]
BRUCKE
Too busy studying the ancient Egyptians?
LANGFORD
Yes.
BRUCKE
Forest for the trees, Professor.
[A Nazi deliberately drops an artifact that shatters on the ground]
BRUCKE
When I laid eyes upon this parchment, I knew I had found something truly special, which holds meaning beyond our world, of what we can only imagine, for now. Have you never wanted to take a step back, so you could look at it? Never imagined that this might be, say, a doorway?
LANGFORD
A doorway?
[Catherine loads a gun, hidden behind a car. Unfortunately a Nazi points his gun at her head]
HEINRICH
Evening, Fraulein. Why ever are you sneaking around so late at night?
CATHERINE
I was hoping to brush up on my German.
[She gives her gun to the soldier, keeps her hands up and is escorted out]
BRUCKE
You must be Catherine.
LANGFORD
Wait, no. Wait, wait, wait. Stop.
STEFAN
Hands, hands!
CATHERINE
I'm okay. I'm okay.
LANGFORD
Okay, okay!
BRUCKE
Wonderful of you to join us.
CATHERINE
What is this? Where is Deitrich?
BRUCKE
Poor Deitrich. Upon alerting me to your whereabouts, I'm afraid he was met with a disastrous difference of opinion in Berlin.
[Catherine struggles from the soldier's hands]
CATHERINE
Let go of me.
BRUCKE
Heinrich, there's no need for this weapon. Let's be civilized here. Stefan, Gunter, rope.
[Catherine and her father are tied with ropes around their wrists]
CATHERINE
Let go of me!
LANGFORD
Catherine, do as they say, please.
BRUCKE
Go finish preparations.
CATHERINE
Civilized, uh?
BRUCKE
Poor fool... All this time, completely oblivious to its true purpose, its true power. One only I comprehend. (to Gunter) These symbols, in this order.
CATHERINE
Who are you?
BRUCKE
I'm the answer you have been looking for.
LANGFORD
And what do you plan to do with us?
BRUCKE
Patience, Professor. You will soon know. First, I will open our little doorway here.
INT- WAREHOUSE, 1938, DAY
BRUCKE
(in German) Power, we need more power!
[One soldier powers the stargate with the engine of his car, the other soldier turns the stargate. Eva films what happens]
BRUCKE
Soon, all shall bear witness...
EVA
Wait. No, wait. The angle is better from over here. Okay, it's your best side.
BRUCKE
This side?
[Brucke points to a scar on his face, not convinced]
BRUCKE
Are you sure?
EVA
And everyone has one side better than the other. Yup.
BRUCKE
You too? Wait, wait, turn.
[Eva stands in profile]
BRUCKE
It's the other side.
[Eva moves to the other side]
BRUCKE
Both sides are perfectly the same.
EVA
Okay, come. Come, come.
[Catherine and her father look on in disbelief. Brucke clears his throat and regains his seriousness]
BRUCKE
Commence with the final sequencing.
[The soldier in the car nods in German. We see that its engine is connected with cables to the Stargate. The other soldier turns the Stargate with all his might to position the chevrons]
LANGFORD
Please. Please, be careful.
BRUCKE
Quiet. No interrupting.
[Debris on the ground begins to shake]
BRUCKE
Soon, all shall bear witness to the great power, like no one has ever seen before. Waiting for someone like me to awaken it from its eons of slumber.
[The vortex activates, everyone crouches slightly in surprise]
BRUCKE
Beautiful!
[Stefan turns off the vehicle's engine, totally amazed]
CATHERINE
Oh, my God.
BRUCKE
Yes. Quite right, Fraulein. Gods, I suspect. With such technology, just think of the power they must wield. Imagine what they could have accomplished by now. Imagine what I will be able to bring back. For Hitler and for Germany.
[Soldiers make a Hitler salute]
SOLDIERS
Heil Hitler!
LANGFORD
This is madness.
BRUCKE
No, this is genius. This is the future. This is a gateway to another world. Well, on the other side...
LANGFORD
The other side? You can't be serious. There's no telling where this thing might take you.
BRUCKE
Did Columbus know? Magellan?
LANGFORD
This energy could kill us all.
[Brucke slowly approaches the wormhole]
BRUCKE
Perhaps, yes. (approaching the vortex) We should test it. Stefan.
[Stefan runs to join him]
BRUCKE
Are you ready to be a good servant to your Fuhrer?
[Stefan nods, they give each other a Hitler salute, then Brucke pushes Stefan's outstretched arm into the event horizon. Stefan screams, then looks at his hand, which has no wounds. Brucke takes his hand and shows it to the rest of the group]
BRUCKE
You see? Perfectly safe. Go get me the professor.
[Stefan goes to join the group. Catherine and her father begin to struggle]
LANGFORD
No.
CATHERINE
No. No, no. No, no, no. Let go of me!
LANGFORD
Catherine! Stop, no stop! Please. Wait! Wait!
[Langford is led toward the wormhole and looks at Brucke]
LANGFORD
I'll do what you ask. If you give me your word as a man...that you will not harm her.
BRUCKE
I give you my word for that.
[Langford is brought closer to the wormhole, Catherine tries to defend herself, desperate]
CATHERINE
Your word means nothing to me!
[Langford is pushed into the vortex]
CATHERINE
Father!
BRUCKE
Fear not. He's perfectly safe. I will be right behind him.
[Brucke speaks in German, Eva films. The other soldiers carry crates to the wormhole and go through the gate. Brucke moves closer to Catherine]
BRUCKE
Look at you. Coming so undone. I feel for you.
[Brucke touches a strand of Catherine's hair, she tries to run away from his hand in disgust. We see a close-up of her hair clip]
BRUCKE
Such energy, such potential.
[Brucke puts Catherine's top collar back on properly]
BRUCKE
And there you are, watching me unlock the great mystery you and your father couldn't.
[Catherine spits in Brucke's face. He is about to hit her but Eva intervenes]
EVA
Wilhelm.
[Brucke refrains and wipes his face with a tissue]
BRUCKE
So sad. So pathetic.
[He caresses Catherine's face, we see that she is not well. He strokes her hair]
BRUCKE
There, now. You want to look nice on your father's big day. Auf wiedersehen.
[Catherine bites his hand hard, Brucke screams in pain and slaps her]
CATHERINE
Next time, I'll make you really bleed. There's nowhere on this Earth you can hide from me.
BRUCKE
Broaden your horizons, my dear. Earth is no place to find a God. (to Heinrich) My notes. If we fail to come back on schedule. Don't lose it. This book holds the key to open the gate.
[Eva goes through the gate]
HEINRICH
Dr. Brucke, what should I do with her?
BRUCKE
Make sure she is safe at the embassy. You should smile, Catherine Langford. After all, you're finally in the presence of true discovery. Must be a good change.
CATHERINE
You're a dead man.
BRUCKE
I would watch what you say, lest you find yourself standing behind your father's grave. Remember, he's the only thing you have left.
CATHERINE
If he's all I have left, then I'll stop at nothing to find him.
[Brucke approaches the wormhole, touches it and is ecstatic. He passes through the gate and the Stargate deactivates. Catherine seems powerless. Heinrich gets into the car, Catherine is behind, still trapped]
CATHERINE
I don't suppose there's any way I can convince you to untie me?
[Heinrich turns to her with a smile]
HEINRICH
Well...
CATHERINE
Eww, No.
HEINRICH
No.
CATHERINE
Pig.
[Catherine tries to remove her restraints, then hits Heinrich from behind. The man hits his head on the steering wheel. Catherine gets out of the car, pulls the soldier out and retrieves the notebook from his pocket]
CATHERINE
Got it.
[She starts the car]
EXT- 1938, NIGHT
[The moon is full in the sky]
INT- EGYPT, MILITARY TENT, 1938, NIGHT
[Two soldiers are sitting around a table in a tent. They are playing dominoes. An English flag hangs in the background]
JAMES
Can I tell you something personal, Wasif?
WASIF
Hum?
JAMES
I never thought waiting would be a problem. Only now, she doesn't want to wait.
WASIF
I do not know, my friend. Love is not for me.
JAMES
You just haven't met the right girl yet, Wasif.
WASIF
If only others tired of saying that as fast as one tires of hearing it.
[Wasif proudly places a coin on the game]
WASIF
Check or fold?
[James puts down a coin as well]
JAMES
Not so fast.
[James chuckles]
JAMES
All I'm saying is, love can happen when you least expect it.
[The headlights of a car illuminate them, the two soldiers draw their weapons, surprised. Catherine comes running towards them, her hands still tied]
CATHERINE
Top notch security, fellas. Relax, I'm American.
[She picks up a bottle of alcohol and takes big gulps of it]
CATHERINE
Hello, James. Got a knife?
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE- DAY
[Langford finds himself on the other side, freezing. He wipes his forehead and blows on his hands to warm up. He blows and looks around to see where he is. The two soldiers walk through the gate with a cargo box. They speak in German. Eva walks through the gate with her camera. She looks cold too]
EVA
I pray that was all captured. Hey, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait!
[She asks the two soldiers to stand by to be filmed]
EVA
The camera, please wait.
[Stefan poses for the camera. Brucke walks through the gate]
EVA
Good. Look around. So beautiful. Yes. Put your other hand. Yeah! And walk that way.
BRUCKE
Stefan. Eva.
[Eva positions herself and films Brucke]
EVA
A message for our Fuhrer.
BRUCKE
Only that I was right.
[He approaches her and touches her eyebrow with an amused smile that there is a little snow on it. He walks into the room, we see a DHD. The vortex deactivates and everyone turns their head towards it. We see a window with sand dunes and three moons in the sky. Langford touches the DHD]
BRUCKE
Exactly like the one we have in Berlin.
[Brucke slaps Langford's hand]
BRUCKE
This must be how they open it without all that electrical nonsense.
[Eva continues to film him]
BRUCKE
The completed puzzle. Wunderbar.
LANGFORD
All this time, I was so convinced this was...just another Rosetta Stone. I can't believe it.
[Brucke pats Langford on the shoulder]
BRUCKE
Well, let's see who's home.
LANGFORD
Who's home?
BRUCKE
Professor! Open your eyes, Professor. Does this temple look abandoned? These curtains, do you suppose they are naturally occurring?
[He pats his cheek]
BRUCKE
Unlike you, I am not afraid. Whatever God rules this place, I intend to meet him. Let's go.
INT- EARTH, WAREHOUSE, NIGHT
JAMES
Cut the engine, Cat. They'll hear us.
CATHERINE
You can hear this thing from a mile away. Let it get a little closer.
[Wasif gets out of the car with his gun]
JAMES
Stay sharp, Wasif.
WASIF
Yes. Sharp.
[Catherine and James get out of the car]
WASIF
I thought there were going to be Nazis.
[They hear a flushing sound and point their guns at the noise. Heinrich is singing and holding a book. He notices the others and raises his arms in the air, causing the book to fall to the ground. We see that he is wearing women's underwear. Heinrich puts his pants back on]
CATHERINE
Get on the ground.
[Heinrich kneels down but grabs Catherine's gun. She hits him hard between the legs]
WASIF
She's not quite what I expected.
[She hits Heinrich in the face and he falls down, unconscious]
JAMES
Yeah, she's great.
[Catherine notices the man's underwear]
CATHERINE
Are those mine?
EXT-ABYDOS, TEMPLE- DAY
[There are a temple on the desert and two moons in the sky]
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE, ROOM HALL- DAY
LANGFORD
Might I possibly be untied now?
BRUCKE
No. Lovely. This is my discovery.
[A crying baby is heard. The group sees a woman with a baby in her arms. She appears to be a queen. A servant is behind her]
BRUCKE
Say something.
LANGFORD
I beg your pardon?
BRUCKE
Introduce us in ancient Egyptian.
[Langford begins speaking in ancient Egyptian]
LANGFORD
Pleased. We meet you. We is...journeyed from a great...
BRUCKE
I don't have time for this. Gunter, seize her. Seize her, now. Catch her.
[Gunter approaches the woman but she uses a goa'uld ribbon before Gunter can use his weapon. He falls to the ground. The other Earthlings freeze. The other German soldier checks Gunther's pulse and signals to Brucke that he is dead with a nod. Immediately, Langford kneels down and bows his head, followed by Eva. She takes Brucke's hand and invites him to do the same. He obeys and kneels down. The goa'uld queen sits down on her throne]
ASET
You were foolish to come here.
[Brucke quietly tilts his head toward Langford to ask him to translate]
LANGFORD
The language of the pharaohs hasn't been spoken for 3,000 years. I was right. We have traveled into the past.
BRUCKE
No. I was right. Beings like her, they created the past.
INT- EARTH, WAREHOUSE, NIGHT
CATHERINE
Thanks for the help, boys.
[Catherine is finally untied. She kicks Heinrich, grabs his pants and puts him in the car]
JAMES
Care to explain what's going on? You said there was a whole group of Nazis.
CATHERINE
There were, and they left.
WASIF
With your father.
CATHERINE
Exactly.
JAMES
I don't get it.
CATHERINE
They went through that.
[She points to the Stargate with one hand]
JAMES
Through that?
WASIF
Then, where did they go?
[Catherine runs to the generator]
CATHERINE
Can you help me, please?
JAMES
Catherine! Are you feeling all right?
CATHERINE
I feel fine. I know this sounds crazy, and if this doesn't work, then I will freely admit that I'm crazy. But it will work. So, please, help me.
JAMES
What can I do?
[She points out what the two men should do]
CATHERINE
Okay, hook those cables up. There are seven symbols. We need to arrange them in correct sequence by sliding that inner ring. That'll open this thing.
WASIF
It looks open to me.
[James does something to the car]
CATHERINE
James!
[James joins the others]
CATHERINE
You said you would help me. Make him help me.
JAMES
Wasif, please! Humor her.
CATHERINE
Don't you dare humor me, okay? Please, help me.
[Wasif finally follows Catherine's lead]
CATHERINE
All right.
[Catherine looks at the notebook and points to the correct symbols]
CATHERINE
Okay, James, the one by your left foot, that one there. You need to move that one that looks kinda like a "Y," clockwise. Okay, good.
JAMES
Now what?
CATHERINE
We need more power.
WASIF
Where do we get that?
CATHERINE
The car engine. They were revving it before.
[Catherine will turn on the car's engine. A chevron locks]
WASIF
Oh, my God, it's moving.
CATHERINE
It's supposed to do that.
JAMES
Think I get it.
CATHERINE
We're looking for...I don't know how to describe it. Just keep moving it around. James, nine o'clock.
[Another chevron locks]
CATHERINE
Wasif, the one by your right foot. Move that clockwise. At seven o'clock. You need to turn that counterclockwise. This one, it needs to go all around. James, just... Just keep spinning. Wasif, the one with the hourglass.
WASIF
This is actually a bit fun.
CATHERINE
Yes. There's one more. A pyramid with a circle on top.
WASIF
Hear that? What is going on?
CATHERINE
Okay, move out of the way.
[Wasif and James move away from the gate. The wormhole activates. Catherine smiles]
CATHERINE
That's it.
JAMES
What the bloody hell is that?
[Catherine signals to follow her and approaches the vortex. Wasif steps back]
CATHERINE
Come on. Let's go.
WASIF
No. Thank you.
CATHERINE
You said you would help me.
JAMES
Yes, but...
CATHERINE
Just look at it.
JAMES
I am looking at it.
CATHERINE
James.
JAMES
I'm sorry. This is insanity.
CATHERINE
My father is on the other side.
JAMES
The Nazis really took your father through that?
CATHERINE
Yes.
JAMES
Why?
CATHERINE
I don't know. A weapon, some technology, and maybe... That Brucke? He was so smug. He gloated about bringing something back for Hitler and for Germany.
JAMES
What say you, Wasif?
[Wasif pushes Catherine and James aside with both hands to get past them]
WASIF
Goddamn power-hungry Nazis!
JAMES
There's your answer.
[The group approaches the vortex. James puts his hat back on properly]
JAMES
Once more onto the breach.
WASIF
Yeah.
[James and Wasif look at each other but...don't move]
CATHERINE
Oh, come on!
[Catherine pushes Wasif into the vortex]
JAMES
That was completely unnecessary.
[Catherine faces James and looks at him]
JAMES
He wanted to go. Whatever happened to "ladies first"?
CATHERINE
Oh, please. And have you chickened out?
JAMES
I'm insulted. You have no idea what's waiting for us on the other side of this thing.
CATHERINE
My father is there!
JAMES
I know. So is Wasif.
CATHERINE
James.
JAMES
I'm here.
[Catherine puts both hands on James' face and kisses him]
JAMES
That was unexpected.
CATHERINE
You never know. Might not get another chance.
JAMES
Why would we never get... Ouaaah!
[Before he can finish his sentence, Catherine pushes him into the vortex. She finds herself alone and looks at the event horizon. She runs a hand through it, then closes her eyes and goes in. She opens her eyes and passes the stargate]
EXT-ABYDOS, TEMPLE- DAY
[There are a temple on the desert and two moons in the sky]
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE, STARGATE ROOM- DAY
[An Abydonian kneels down in front of the stargate, then stands up and begins to clean it. All around him, things begin to vibrate. The stargate is activated. The Abydonian runs away and spills his bucket of water. Wasif goes through the wormhole]
WASIF
Very unexpected. Tingly.
[James arrives, screaming. Catherines arrives too]
CATHERINE
Did you guys see those?
JAMES
What the bloody hell was that?
CATHERINE
I think they were stars.
WASIF
Do you know where we are?
CATHERINE
No idea.
[Catherine walks into the room]
CATHERINE
Look, this room is Egyptian.
JAMES
We just need to find our bearings. Make a...
[The vortex is deactivated]
JAMES
What the... Why didn't it stay open?
WASIF
There is no connection. Nothing.
[Catherine discovers DHD]
CATHERINE
This seems promising.
JAMES
Turn it back on, Cat.
[Catherine tries to get the DHD to work, but without success]
JAMES
I'd rather not stay here too long.
CATHERINE
Sure. All right.
[She takes the notebook and taps on the corresponding symbols]
CATHERINE
Okay, one.
[She taps the first symbol that clicks on the stargate]
WASIF
At least getting back will be a little less exhausting.
JAMES
Yes.
CATHERINE
Four. Five. Six. Seven, seven... Seven. There's no seventh symbol.
JAMES
What does that mean?
CATHERINE
The triangle with a dot over it. Yeah, it's... It's not here.
WASIF
Maybe this site has a different seventh symbol.
JAMES
So... So, all of them were in that Nazi journal, right? So, maybe, what we need now will also be in there.
WASIF
Yes.
CATHERINE
Maybe.
WASIF
The floor is wet. The floor is wet.
JAMES
Okay. Thank you. It's good to know. You're both being very helpful.
CATHERINE
James, please, calm down.
JAMES
Calm down? You could have landed us all on Mars.
WASIF
Excuse me.
[Wasif looks out the window, James and Catherine join him. They see the sand dunes and the three moons]
WASIF
I do not believe this is Mars. What do I know? I've never been.
JAMES
Wherever we are, let's treat it like hostile territory. Wasif. Join me on a sweep. Cat, stay put.
CATHERINE
You wish.
[James, gun in hand, walks around the room. The others follow him]
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE, ROOM HALL- DAY
JAMES
Anything?
[Catherine is still studying the notebook]
CATHERINE
No. Nothing yet.
[The Abydonian hides behind a column and drops his bucket. Wasif runs to retrieve the bucket]
JAMES
Cat?
[James finds nazi's corpse]
JAMES
Do you have any idea what kind of danger you've put us in?
CATHERINE
How was I supposed to know the sequence here would be different? It's not my journal.
JAMES
You didn't think to check before dragging us along...
[Wasif looks at them arguing then clears his throat]
JAMES and CATHERINE
What?
WASIF
Any clue?
JAMES
Footprints and a dead Nazi. You?
WASIF
I found another bucket.
JAMES
Wasif, I swear...
CATHERINE
Come on, let's go.
JAMES
Cat, wait.
[Wasif throws the bucket on the floor. Catherine approaches the throne]
JAMES
Cat, wait.
[Catherine pulls out her gun and hides behind the throne. James joins her]
JAMES
We've not secured this...
[James looks at Catherine's gun]
JAMES
Do you even know how to use that thing, other than clobbering people over the head with it?
[Wasif, weapon in hand, continues to explore the area]
CATHERINE
I learned to shoot when I was 15 years old.
JAMES
Wow.
CATHERINE
Thank you.
[Wasif has his hands up and looks terrified]
CATHERINE
When was the last time you fired it?
[The female soldier, Serqet, growls, Wasif is even more terrified]
JAMES
Just don't be a hero.
CATHERINE
Only if I have to save you.
[In the background behind a curtain, Wasif can be seen getting hit. James and Catherine are hiding. Then they watch what happens, and Catherine runs away]
JAMES
Here we go.
[She hides behind a column]
JAMES
Wasif, you about, mate? Can't seem to find you. Just follow the sound of my voice.
CATHERINE
James.
[She makes a sign to him to be quiet and hide]
JAMES
Over here.
[James winks at him. Aset's bodyguard, Serqet, approaches. She snarls. She aims her spear at Catherine. Catherine narrowly dodges the shot. James moves and hits her with his foot from behind. Rings of transport activate. Catherine helps James to fight with Serqet]
JAMES (touching Catherine's chest as he tries to get up)
I'm sorry, i'm sorry.
[The fight continues and Catherine's hairpin falls to the ground. Wasif arrives and brandishes his weapon. He tries to shoot but the shots don't go off. Serqet grabs Wasif by the throat and throws him against the wall. She aims her spear at James. He raises his hands in the air. Catherine uses a stick and activates the transport rings. Serqet grunts and is taken away. Wasif shoots into the void]
JAMES
Thank you, Wasif. Great shot.
CATHERINE
I got her.
JAMES
How?
CATHERINE
Hit her with this.
JAMES
Hold on to it.
WASIF
What was that? No women back home can fight like that.
[Catherine gives him a look]
JAMES
No man, either.
JAMES
You... You had to be a hero.
CATHERINE
You needed saving. Okay, what was that? "Over here. Listen to the sound of my voice."
JAMES
It's called strategy.
CATHERINE
Strategy, is it? Is that, is that what you call it? Because, from what I saw, it was, like...
[The Abydonian touches Catherine's shoulder. The group takes aim, but the Abydonian invites them to follow him]
CATHERINE
He looks so human.
[James throws a "boo!" at the Abydonian. The Abydonian flinches in fear. James is proud of himself]
JAMES
Well, he's no threat at least. Figure out what he's on about, Cat.
CATHERINE
Hi. Hello. Just what are you trying to tell us?
[The Abydonian speaks in his language and invites them to follow him again]
JAMES
What? Do you have any idea what he's yammering about?
CATHERINE
I think he wants us to follow him.
WASIF
It almost sounds like the old...
CATHERINE
Wasif! Just give me a second. What are you trying to say?
[Wasif and James want to leave but the Abydonian tells them not to go in that direction]
JAMES
Maybe the kid knows something. About the dead Nazi. About the woman we just fought. About what happened to your father.
CATHERINE
What about my father?
JAMES
Cat, your father's an old man. We really ought to consider the possi...
[Catherine slaps James]
JAMES
Sorry.
[Transport rings activate again]
JAMES
Here we go again. We need to go. Now!
[The Abydonian grabs James, James gets angry at him]
JAMES
What the bloody hell is wrong with you? Wasif, help me.
[James and Wasif wear the Abydonian. Catherine follows them elsewhere]
JAMES
Thanks us later.
[Serqet picks up Catherine's hairpin from the floor and looks at it]
EXT- ABYDOS, DESERT- DAY
[Catherine, Wasif and James are walking in the desert with the Abydonian. Catherine empties her canteen of water, there is no more]
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE, ROOM HALL- DAY
[Aset gives milk to her baby]
ASET
They fought you?
SERQET
Yes.
ASET
The others surrendered so quickly. How strange.
SERQET
I will find them for you.
ASET
They will come to us.
SERQET
Ra will return to learn of the intruders.
[The baby starts to cry]
SERQET
And of the Harcesis! That child is forbidden and a threat to our kind.
[The nanny retrieves the baby from Aset's arms]
SERQET
Surely Ra would-
ASET
Ra will find guilt in all of us.
[Serqet closes his eyes. Aset stands up]
ASET
We need to be bold. If we are to conduct this revolution, we will need outside help.
SERQET
Earthlings? They are unpredictable if not tamed. You are being reckless.
ASET
Serqet-
SERQET
Ra's power is-
ASET
I will not squander the gift of my resurrection!
SERQET
Yes, my queen.
[Serqet leaves]
EXT- ABYDOS, DESERT- DAY
[Catherine, James and Wasif are still walking in the desert with the Abydonian]
JAMES
So much like Egypt.
WASIF
Yes, very sandy.
[Kasuf speaks in his own language]
CATHERINE
Hold on, hold on. Slow down, slow down. Let's start with the basics. I am Catherine.
KASUF
Catherine.
CATHERINE
Catherine.
KASUF
Catherine.
CATHERINE
Catherine.
KASUF
Catherine?
CATHERINE
Yeah.
KASUF
Catherine.
CATHERINE
Catherine.
KASUF
Catherine.
CATHERINE
Okay, who are you?
KASUF
Catherine.
CATHERINE
Catherine... No, no, no. I am Catherine.
KASUF
Catherine.
KASUF
He is Beal.
JAMES
Beal.
CATHERINE
Who are you?
KASUF
Is Beal? Is Beal.
CATHERINE
No. No, no. Catherine, Beal...
KASUF
Kasuf.
CATHERINE
Kasoof.
KASUF
Kasuf.
CATHERINE
Hasuf?
KASUF
Kasuf.
CATHERINE
Kasuf.
JAMES
It's like... Kasuf.
KASUF
Kasuf.
CATHERINE
Kasuf.
KASUF
Catherine, Beal.
WASIF
Wasif.
KASUF
Wasif.
CATHERINE
Wait! Kasuf! Kasuf!
JAMES
You're doing wonderfully.
WASIF
I do hope he takes us somewhere safe. We need to lay low.
CATHERINE
Lay low?
WASIF
Yes.
CATHERINE
What about my father?
JAMES
One thing at a time, Cat.
CATHERINE
Well, those footprints at the temple could be my father's.
JAMES
Those could've just as easily been left by that warrior. And I don't know how much your magic stick can do against an army of women like that.
CATHERINE
Well, maybe if we...
[Kasuf calls them]
CATHERINE
Come on, come on.
KASUF
Catherine, Beal. Wasif!
JAMES
Tents, how quaint.
[Kasuf shouts happily towards the tent to signal himself, then starts running towards the camp]
CATHERINE
Come on.
INT- ABYDOS, ABYDONIAN CAMP- DAY
[Catherine, James and Wasif follow Kasuf into the camp. All is quiet, no one is there]
CATHERINE
Father?
WASIF
Where is everyone?
CATHERINE
Hello? Is there a Professor Langford here?
[Catherine kneels down to look at a pot on the fire. It is boiling. She feels a presence]
WASIF
We've lost our guide. I don't like this.
JAMES
Stay calm.
[Spear blades encircle the trio]
CATHERINE
Okay, okay.
WASIF
Dear God, we are...
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE PRISON- DAY
STEFAN
Doomed.
BRUCKE
Nonsense. I brought us here safely, I shall return us home safely.
STEFAN
Nobody even knows we are here.
EVA
Stefan, calm. (in German) We will be alright. Wait! Wait, wait! Heinrich knows!
STEFAN & EVA
Yeah!
INT-WAREHOUSE-CATHERINE'S BEDROOM-DAY
HEINRICH (in German)
[i]Where is that notebook?[/i]
[Heinrich desperately searches for Brucke's notebook in Catherine's things. He falls on the bed and hurts himself with a fossil]
HEINRICH (in German)
[i]This can't be good.[/i]
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE PRISON- DAY
STEFAN (in German)
[i]For the love of...[/i]
[Eva speaks German, she takes the camera and starts filming Stefan]
STEFAN
Eva, please, turn that camera off.
EVA
But you have a good presence.
STEFAN
Do I?
BRUCKE
Honestly, Eva, sometimes I question the Fuhrer's election of you.
[Eva stops filming. Brucke opens the transport box]
BRUCKE
She's seized our weapons but left the rest of our equipment.
STEFAN
And all that remains is useless.
[Brucke pulls out a video projector]
BRUCKE
This is not useless. The thousand words contained within one image, can charm the hearts of empires.
STEFAN
What does that even mean?
EVA
You brought that for a reason.
BRUCKE
Yes.
EVA
The long histories of my work.
BRUCKE
Time for a little demonstration.
[Eva kisses Brucke on the cheek and she gives the instructions for setting up the projection equipment to Stefan]
BRUCKE
Why so quiet, Professor?
LANGFORD
I was thinking about how I should thank you.
BRUCKE
For bringing you on the greatest adventure of your life?
LANGFORD
For keeping Catherine out of this Goddamn mess.
INT- ABYDOS, ABYDONIAN CAMP- DAY
[Catherine, Wasif and James are tied to a pole. Guard hover around them, armed]
CATHERINE
From now on, I'm in charge.
JAMES
And here I thought you've been in charge this whole time.
CATHERINE
The kid was your idea.
WASIF
That is my finger you're bending.
CATHERINE
Sorry, thought it was Beal's.
JAMES
Is anybody here not hostile?
WASIF
Even we are fighting, I say no.
CATHERINE
You don't think I can get us out of this mess.
JAMES
Did I say that? Wasif, did I say...
[The guard puts a spear under James' neck to keep him quiet]
WASIF
I have no opinion. I suggest we all remain calm...
[The guard puts a spear under Wasif's neck to keep him quiet]
WASIF
...and let the solution present itself.
[Someone shouts outside. The guard leaves]
CATHERINE
Sit tight and wait? God, he's worse than you!
JAMES
Worse than me? You have no plan, nothing. So we escape, then what?
[Wasif tries to untie himself]
JAMES
They still have our guns.
CATHERINE
We take them back, obviously.
JAMES
Obviously.
[Wasif manages to free himself with one hand]
WASIF
Look! Look!
CATHERINE
I'm next, I'm next!
[Wasif goes to free her]
JAMES
Not so loud!
[Catherine is released, she turns to James]
CATHERINE
Don't tell me what to do.
JAMES
Lower your voice.
[Catherine releases him]
JAMES
We just have to keep calm, and...
[A guard arrives and threatens Catherine. She yells at him with her stick. The guard drops his stick and Catherine raises her hands in the air. James fights with him. Wasif helps him, but in the struggle, is stabbed. He falls to the ground and everyone looks at him in shock. Kasuf returns and calls for help]
CATHERINE
Help! Help!
[b]EXT- ABYDOS, ABYDONIAN CAMP- DAY[/b]
[Wasif is carried outside. A tear runs down Wasif's face. James presses hard on his wound, there is a lot of blood]
JAMES
I told you to be quiet.
[Catherine swallows a sob. The guard speaks to them in his language. A healing stick is brought near Wasif]
JAMES
Wasif! Wasif! Look at me! You're all right!
[The guard continues to speak and heals him with the stick. The wound heals itself, the blood returns to his body]
CATHERINE
What is happening?
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE PRISON- DAY
[Eva finishes setting up the projector. Once the film starts, Serqet puts the blade of his spear to Brucke's throat. Aset and the nanny are also in the cell. The nanny holds the baby]
SERQET
What is this?
BRUCKE
If only you would see what... What I have to show you. There are those like me who'd make for a strong friend and ally.
LANGFORD
Please. See what I have to show you. I come...as strong ally and friend.
ASET
Enough.
[Serqet removes his blade from Brucke's throat. Brucke nods to Eva to start the film. Eva does so and the film begins. We can see a propaganda film of the Nazi regime]
SERQET
Curious that so many follow this strange little man.
[Serqet tries to chase the film with his spear, not understanding this technology]
ASET
Serqet!
[Serqet stops]
ASET
We desperately needs allies. We must be prepared.
[Aset orders Serqet and the nanny to leave and is left alone with the Earthlings. Aset approaches Brucke and studies him. Brucke smiles, confident. Aset raises her hand, it is adorned with jeweled sharp claws. She strokes her claws over Brucke's throat. Serqet comes back with an earthling rifle. The humans become frightened and Aset shoots towards the ceiling. The humans cower on the ground, covering their ears and protecting themselves. Aset laughs]
ASET
Tell me. Do the followers of this man...love and revere him?
LANGFORD
This man, do they love and worship him?
BRUCKE
They do, as they will worship you.
[Langford translates to Aset. She seems delighted with this news]
BRUCKE
I sense she is pleased, tell her there is more, So much more to see.
[Langford looks worried and wipes his forehead, his hands still tied]
INT- ABYDOS, ABYDONIAN CAMP- DAY
[Catherine wipes her forehead]
CATHERINE
I'm sorry about Wasif.
[She turns to James, he is sitting by the bed where Wasif lies unconscious]
CATHERINE
I was only trying to...
JAMES
Trying to do what? Get us all killed?
CATHERINE
My father's out there, I need to do something.
[James stands up]
JAMES
Nothing's stopping you, other than selfishness, armed guards, and having nothing that even resembles a plan.
CATHERINE
I need to save him, he's all I have.
JAMES
Is that what you think? Because that's simply not true. There are other people here for you, Cat. Do you understand?
WASIF
Dear God, just kiss already!
[Wasif is conscious again. James and Catherine rush to his bedside]
CATHERINE
How do you feel?
WASIF
Fine.
[He looks under his sheet and sees that he is naked. He hides from the sheet quickly]
WASIF
Where are my clothes?
[Catherine restrains herself from laughing]
JAMES
Covered in blood. You were stabbed.
[Wasif straightens up and looks at his belly]
WASIF
I was stabbed? Why?
CATHERINE
We were trying to escape.
JAMES
It went badly.
WASIF
How do I not remember?
JAMES
You...You were in a rough state, a magic stick saved your life.
WASIF
Another magic stick?
JAMES
Yes, it would seem...Catherine's father unearthed a doorway to a land full of magic sticks.
[Kasuf returns and lays down clothes for Wasif. He dresses]
CATHERINE
Cute.
[Wasif looks at her proudly]
WASIF
I know.
KASUF
This is my outpost, Nosdevli.
[Catherine puts her hands on Kasuf's shoulders]
CATHERINE
Kasuf, you need to let us leave.
JAMES
He doesn't speak English.
CATHERINE
Okay. Well, at least I'm trying to communicate.
WASIF
Whatever this place is, he is saying it is his.
CATHERINE
You understand him?
KASUF
You are our prisoners.
WASIF
Yes, some of it. Sadly, I believe he just called us prisoners.
JAMES
Of course he understands, he's Egyptian!
WASIF
Yes, I am Egyptian.
CATHERINE
Why didn't you say so earlier?
WASIF
I thought it was fairly obvious.
CATHERINE
Not that you're an Egyptian, that you understand him!
WASIF
I only understand very little. A word here and there from Coptic. My grandmother spoke it.
JAMES
Ooooh.
WASIF
Also, you are difficult to interrupt.
CATHERINE
He was saying before out there, "Qeesa?" What does qeesa mean?
WASIF
Qeesa? Qeesa, it means danger.
[Catherine puts her hands back on Kasuf's shoulders]
CATHERINE
Kasuf. Qeesa.
[Two guards enter the tent, one of them leads Kasuf out]
CATHERINE
No, wait, we were just...
[She tries to get out to call Kasuf back, but a guard blocks her way]
MOTAWK
Seeg-ru.
WASIF
Be quiet.
CATHERINE
Don't tell me to be quiet.
WASIF
No, he is saying be quiet.
MOTAWK
You are to be held here until such time as we present you to Aset.
WASIF
Something about tonight.
MOTAWK
I said silence!
WASIF
Again, that means silent.
JAMES
Let me try. We are...
[Second guard taps James on the head]
JAMES
Damn it!
WASIF
Why would you do that?
[Second guard taps Wasif on the head]
CATHERINE
No, enough. You, be...
[The first guard prevents the second from hitting Catherine]
CATHERINE
You, seeg-ru. You think, we are qeesa? But you are wrong. If you do not let us leave, qeesa. How do we say father?
WASIF
Try "yatu".
MOTAWK
Yatu?
WASIF
We are looking for her father.
CATHERINE
A bad, bad man.
WASIF
Bad man.
MOTAWK
Bad man?
CATHERINE
Yes, yes. Suy bah-yee. Took my...yatu.
KASUF
This man is bad?
MOTAWK
Bad man.
[The guards put their spears on James]
CATHERINE, JAMES & WASIF
No, no. No.
[Catherine sits down, desperate. She shakes her shirt from the heat, and her collar goes over her blouse. The guards and Kasuf see it]
MOTAWK
The seal of Ra! Kasuf what have you done?!
[They kneel before Catherine]
KASUF
Please, forgive me! I knew not that you are friends of Ra. And so I treat you very badly.
[Catherine looks at her necklace]
KASUF
Blame me! Me! Not my outpost! Blame me!
[The guard makes a prayer in Catherine's direction]
JAMES
What exactly did you say?
WASIF
I believe they're apologizing.
[Catherine shows Ra's necklace to the guards]
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE PRISON- DAY
[Aset inspects a pendant with the Nazi symbol]
ASET
A sign of good luck and prosperity?
LANGFORD
Not for everyone. (to Brucke) She said she likes your pin.
[The film shows images of the Holocaust]
ASET
Slaves?
[Langford nods]
ASET
Thousands of years ago, you fought so hard to free yourselves from servitude. Now, it would appear that your people are ready to serve us again.
BRUCKE
What is she saying?
LANGFORD
I refuse to negotiate or translate for the rise of tyrants or Gods!
BRUCKE
Don't grasp at bravery now, Professor. It does not suit you.
[Brucke slaps Langford, Aset laughs]
LANGFORD
Slaves. She needs more slaves.
BRUCKE
Good.
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE, ROOM HALL- DAY
BRUCKE
This? This is all she offers?
[Brucke holds a piece of naquadah between his fingers]
LANGFORD
Well, you sound disappointed.
[Eva stops filming]
BRUCKE
I feel unappreciated, yes! I offer thousands!
[Aset looks after her baby, sitting on the throne]
BRUCKE
No, tens of thousands! Hundreds of thousands of able-bodied men and women! And she thinks I will march back home and flaunt for the adoring masters, her precious gift of a rock?
ASET
Naqada.
BRUCKE
What was that?
[Eva resumes her shooting]
LANGFORD
Naqada? Naqada?
BRUCKE
Yes, I heard. What does it mean?
LANGFORD
Well, Nagada was a city in ancient Egypt, also known as Nbwt. It was the center of their civilization.
ASET
Naqada?
[She gives her baby to her nanny and stands up. She speaks in her language]
LANGFORD (translating what Aset says)
Naquadah is life, death, everything in-between.
[Aset hands them a knife]
ASET
Na-nay naqada.
LANGFORD
No Naquadah.
BRUCKE
Yes, yes, this is very nice. Do I get this as well? A rock and my very own knive back.
[Serqet takes the blade and hits a huge rock with it. The blade shatters]
BRUCKE
Scheisse.
SERQET
Na-nay naqada.
[Serqet brings her spear to Aset]
ASET
Naqada.
LANGFORD
This staff has Naquadah.
[Eva continues to film. Aset hits the rock, it breaks in two. The blade is intact]
LANGFORD
Naquadah guarantees swift death to every enemy. Naquadah gives...eternal youth and beauty.
BRUCKE
Youth and beauty, forever? Imagine the power to grant eternal youth...or life. An everlasting Reich of my own! Don't look so worried, Professor. Perhaps I will grant you the gift of immortality, to serve me by my side, and watch how my empire grows.
INT- ABYDOS, ABYDONIAN CAMP- SUNSET
MOTAWK
Kasuf.
[Kasuf grabs the plate Motawk hands him. They are all around a table full of food. Kasuf smokes a pipe]
KASUF
Tae.
[Catherine takes the tray]
CATHERINE
Bread!
[Kasuf congratulates Catherine. Wasif and Motawk look at each other. Motawk invites Wasif to eat. He eats but spits in his hand before Motawk looks]
JAMES
What I wouldn't give for a shepherd's pie. Any of this look familiar to you?
WASIF
You must be joking.
JAMES
Sorry. It does look a lot like Egypt.
[Catherine feasts on the food]
WASIF
Not the food.
KASUF
Emissaries of Ra are most welcome. Aset will be most pleased. Many blessings on you and your friends!
CATHERINE
Blessings to you, Kasuf.
[Kasuf hands the pipe to Catherine]
JAMES
How are you doing this?
CATHERINE
It's remarkably similar to ancient Egyptian. Once Wasif told me the Coptic vowel placement to listen for. Try this. No, it's good. My father, he's the real expert. Imagining what the language of the pharaohs would've sounded like has long been a passion of his.
JAMES
Looks like it paid off.
CATHERINE
Funny.
[She hands the pipe to James. He smokes]
CATHERINE
I always thought it was a complete waste of time. That's why Brucke took him.
JAMES
What do you mean?
CATHERINE
He must've known my father would understand the language here.
JAMES
How could he have known that?
[A bell rings]
KASUF
Behold, Aset and Ra!
[Two Abydonians start a play]
KASUF
Long ago, Aset fell from Ra's favor. Now, Ra has resurrected Aset...
[Catherine looks in the notebook]
KASUF
...and has given her power to watch over us. Our goddess Aset!
[The Abydonians applaud. Wasif and James too. Catherine still looking at the notebook]
MOTAWK
Try this.
[He hands the pipe to Wasif]
WASIF
Thank you.
[Wasif takes a deep breath from the pipe]
MOTAWK
My name is Motawk.
WASIF
Wasif.
MOTAWK
Wasif?
WASIF
Wasif.
CATHERINE
He knew enough to open the gate in the first place. It's not crazy to think he knew what he may have found here. There are glyphs in here that I've never seen before, which believe me, is rare.
KASUF
The power to heal was gifted to us by our goddess! The Wand of Horus. And we reward Aset with great loyalty!
[Catherine takes another drag from the pipe and begins to hallucinate]
CATHERINE
What if I've never seen these before because they depict what happened here, on this world, not ours?
[Catherine takes another drag from the pipe and begins to hallucinate]
CATHERINE
This is about more than saving my father. The power to heal, the weapon we were attacked with. If the Nazis got a hold of any of this...
[Catherine takes another drag from the pipe and begins to hallucinate]
CATHERINE
We need to stop Brucke. Okay. We need to go. Kasuf! Kasuf!
ALL
Kasuf!
CATHERINE
Damn it, that's not what I meant. Okay, we need to go.
JAMES
Wait, no. Tomorrow. Tomorrow!
CATHERINE
We need to go now, we need to leave now.
JAMES
Cat. Cat. Play this smart, it's pitch black out there. All right. Let's settle. Tonight, we make friends and allies with these...fine people.
ALL
Fine people!
[They all raise their glasses]
CATHERINE
And tomorrow we beg them to join our cause and save our planet from unimaginable darkness and destruction.
JAMES
Wow. Touch dramatic.
CATHERINE
Or we at least get our guns back.
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE, ROOM HALL- NIGHT
[Eva starts filming]
STEFAN
Ready?
EVA
And, action!
BRUCKE
Dearest members of the Vril Society, I bring good news. Proof that our theories were correct.
[He approaches the throne where Aset is sitting with her baby in her arms]
BRUCKE
Come, meet Aset, the God who rules this world.
[He brings his hand up to her face but Aset tries to bite him]
BRUCKE
She has given me the power that we have been tirelessly looking for. The elusive Vril.
[He shows a piece of Naquadah in his hand, proudly]
BRUCKE
In return, I will deliver multitudes of our undesirables...
[Camera pans to Langford]
BRUCKE
...to toil at her command. A bold and prosperous partnership.
EVA
And a triumph for the Fuhrer.
[Stefan makes a Nazi salute]
BRUCKE
Yes, yes, that as well. Perhaps now he will fully appreciate. As will the rest of the world. Soon, every mortal shall bend the knee, and worship at the feet of the almighty...
INT- ABYDOS, ABYDONIAN CAMP- NIGHT
ALL
Aset!
JAMES
Beware, that is the man who likes to stab you.
[James looks at a piece of Naquadah in his hand]
JAMES
I found this. It's...dark and beautiful. Like you.
CATHERINE
It's a rock.
JAMES
Yeah, sure. Just...keep it?
[Catherine smiles and puts the pebble back in her purse]
JAMES
To replace your magic stick.
[They laugh. They hold hands and Kasuf clears his throat]
JAMES
What are you two on about?
CATHERINE
I think he just offered us his tent for the evening. Are you nervous?
JAMES
What? No.
[James dips his finger in a dish and tastes it]
JAMES
Mm. Mm.
KASUF
Bani way.
JAMES
Bani way?
KASUF
Tee-yu, bani way.
JAMES
Bani way! Must mean dessert or cream.
[Catherine strokes James' fingers]
CATHERINE
It means sweet. Very, very sweet.
JAMES
Bani way.
KASUF
Bani way.
[They kiss]
INT- ABYDOS, ABYDONIAN CAMP- DAY
[A bell rings, Catherine wakes up. James is looking out and puts a finger over her mouth to tell her to be quiet]
ASET
This an outpost of my most loyal subjects!
[The Abydonians kneel before her. Catherine goes to dress, Kasuf returns to the tent to warn them. He hides his eyes from Catherine]
CATHERINE
It's okay.
KASUF
Tee-yu.
JAMES
Tee-yu.
KASUF
Aset is here.
CATHERINE
What? Out there? That is Aset?
KASUF
That is Aset.
JAMES
Cat?
[Outside, Brucke, Stefan, Eva, Serqet and Langford can be seen. Eva films Brucke]
BRUCKE
This tiny outpost could use a bit more manpower.
KASUF
She is a great hero! A Goddess and a friend. Come! Come!
CATHERINE
Hold on.
KASUF
Ra has show her many mercies! She will welcome you.
JAMES
Catherine, you...
[Kasuf leaves]
JAMES
Damn it! Cat! Your father.
CATHERINE
Father.
[Catherine sees her father, James holds her back]
JAMES
No, no, no, not now. Not here.
CATHERINE
Let go of me.
JAMES
We still don't have our guns, there's nothing we can do. There's nothing we can do.
KASUF
It is our great honor to present to you...
[Kasuf involuntarily pushes Stefan]
KASUF
...more royal guests from beyond-
[Stefan turns around and violently pushes Kasuf to the ground. The Abydonians are shocked. Kasuf is terrified]
STEFAN
Piss off.
[Aset laughs. Kasuf runs away to the tent]
BRUCKE
Away with you. Away with you. Impressive display of subservience. Enough to rival my own loyal and obedient dog, Langford.
[Brucke pats Langford's arm]
BRUCKE
But are they really willing to serve?
[Serqet whispers something in Aset's ear]
BRUCKE
Do they revere you enough to fight for you? To die for you?
LANGFORD
An impressive display. But who here is truly willing to...willing to serve? Do any of your people fight for you ? To death?
ASET
My people are strong and well trained. Unlike your foolish dead soldier.
LANGFORD
Her people are strong and well-trained, not like your stupid dead soldier.
[Aset laughs. Brucke slaps Langford hard. In the tent, Catherine starts to have tears in her eyes]
KASUF
Your father?
[She nods]
KASUF
And...the bad man?
BRUCKE
A test then, say it.
LANGFORD
A test.
BRUCKE
A test, a friendly game, to highlight obedience and willingness to serve the cause. Stefan. (speaks quietly to Stefan while Langford translates) You will fight with a knife, yes?
STEFAN
Yes.
ASET
A test. A test. A test. Which among you wishes to prove their worth? Who will stand as a shining example?
[Several Abydonians volunteer. Wasif holds Motawk back. Kasuf wants to go but Catherine and James hold him back]
KASUF
Please! Please! I must regain her favor!
JAMES
Not this time.
[Aset signals a very muscular warrior to approach. Stefan moves into position]
STEFAN
For Hitler.
[They fight]
BRUCKE
Stefan!
[The Abydonian breaks Stefan's knee. Stefan is on the ground and throws sand in his eyes. They continue to fight]
BRUCKE
Stefan!
[They continue to fight. The Abydonian has the advantage and is about to deliver the coup de grâce. Brucke pulls out his pistol and fires. The Abydonian falls to the ground, dead. Everyone is shocked. The Abydonians start to cry for the dead man]
KASUF
No! Nubai! Nubai! Wand of Horus!
STEFAN
I'm all right.
[Brucke presses with his foot on Stefan's knee. We hear bones cracking and Stefan screams in pain]
ASET
It is only fair. For your slave in the temple. You overstep again, you will die.
LANGFORD
She has allowed this outrage...because she earlier killed Gunter.
[Brucke pushes Eva slightly. He aims at Stefan with his gun. Stefan begs him but Brucke shoots him in the head]
EVA
Stefan! Stefan! Stefan! He was German. He was German! In service to the Fuhrer!
BRUCKE
He would've slowed us down! Go, go film! Eva, go film!
[Eva stands up, furious, and films Brucke]
BRUCKE
We must assert our power, lest we lose it. Flex our might or be seen as weak!
[Eva stops filming, she has tears on her cheeks]
BRUCKE
Did you get that last bit?
[He wants to touch Eva's face but she pulls away]
BRUCKE
Was it my good side?
EVA
You have no good side.
LANGFORD
You're a monster.
BRUCKE
No, my friend, I am a God. Fear not, everyone, for I shall replace this loss with thousands upon thousands of slaves! The desert shall be filled forever!
LANGFORD
This man will be covered, no replaced...by...I can't remember the word for thousand.
BRUCKE
Langford!
LANGFORD
by a desert full of slaves...
BRUCKE
As long as Aset will have it.
LANGFORD
If you would have it?
MOTAWK
Wand of Horus!
KASUF
Wand of Horus!
[Kasuf leaves the tent and runs to get the healing stick]
KASUF
Wand of Horus! Wand of Horus!
SERQET
Forget loyalty, we need to show strength.
[Kasuf brings the healing stick to Aset]
KASUF
Please, Aset.
[Aset takes the stick and puts it in the air]
ASET
I can give.
MOTAWK
Yes. Yes.
ASET
As easily as I can take away.
[She breaks the stick in two. The Abydonians start to cry. A tear runs down Aset's cheek. She throws the stick on the ground, Kasuf is shocked. Serqet hits Kasuf]
SERQET
He died with honor. He died for your queen.
[Aset leaves]
BRUCKE
Langford.
[Eva puts away her equipment]
BRUCKE
Eva. Come.
[They leave. Catherine leaves the tent furiously]
CATHERINE
That son of a bitch. Wasif, get our guns now. Beal, we need to go.
[Her voice breaks and James comes to embrace her]
JAMES
Hold on, hold on.
CATHERINE
No. That man, he deserves to die. Did you see what he just did? What do you think he'll do to my father?
JAMES
I understand, but we had better think this through.
KASUF
He is a bad, bad man.
CATHERINE
Yes. Very, very bad.
MOTAWK
He has turned Aset against us.
KASUF
Made her wicked.
[Motawk gives their weapon back to Catherine, James and Wasif]
MOTAWK
Make him go away.
KASUF
Please. Please. Help us make him disappear!
JAMES
What... What did he say?
CATHERINE
I think they're asking us to help them destroy Brucke.
JAMES
Well, tell them...yes!
CATHERINE
Yes.
KASUF
Yes.
EXT- ABYDOS, ABYDONIAN DESERT- DAY
WASIF
They've returned to Aset's temple.
JAMES
So, we'll go in, in two teams. One creates a diversion, while the other rescues the professor.
WASIF
Then we stay here for the rest of our lives.
CATHERINE
Kasuf.
[She points to the symbols on the notebook]
CATHERINE
Have you seen these symbols?
KASUF
Reading is forbidden! Ra has forbidden it!
CATHERINE
It's just us.
[Kasuf looks at the symbols in the notebook]
KASUF
Cave? You've seen the cave?
CATHERINE
Kasuf. Are these symbols in the cave?
KASUF
Yes, in the cave.
CATHERINE
The cave...where?
KASUF
Near the mines.
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE- DAY
BRUCKE
You will be filming this way? The scenery must not outshine me.
EVA
How could it?
[Aset is on her throne, she holds Catherine's hair clip in her hands. Brucke opens a case filled with naquadah]
BRUCKE
This here is the best angle for the Naquadah.
EVA
Yeah, Wilhem. I know what I'm doing.
ASET
Which would your master prefer? Should those who followed you here...toil in my mines? Or should we kill them?
[Aset holds up the hair clip. Langford grabs it and hides it before Brucke sees it]
BRUCKE
What is she saying?
LANGFORD
I believe that she is excited to be in your film.
BRUCKE
As well as she should be. Don't tell her that. Tell her anything else. Ready?
EVA
Yeah.
LANGFORD
The other humans...killing them won't be necessary. We prefer to fight our own battles.
EVA
Okay.
BRUCKE
Ready?
EVA
Yeah. Stand here.
BRUCKE
Here?
[Eva agrees]
EXT- ABYDOS, ABYDONIAN DESERT- DAY
JAMES
Wasif and I will return to camp, enlist more villagers to scout the temple and see if we can find a better point of entry. We could go with you.
CATHERINE
I've been in caves before, James, crossed deserts too.
JAMES
Just make it back safely. And I promise to stop being so nervous.
CATHERINE
If you say so.
JAMES
Hey...
WASIF
Yes, yes, yes. She knows. Do not be a hero, Catherine.
[She laughs]
WASIF
Come on. Let's go.
JAMES
Let's go.
[Kasuf invites Catherine to follow him. The two groups separate and start walking in the desert]
INT- ABYDOS, STARGATE ROOM- DAY
[Langford closes the box. He is exhausted from carrying it to the gate. He looks out the window]
LANGFORD (to himself)
Catherine. Where are you?
BRUCKE (off screen)
Langford. Come.
EXT- ABYDOS, ABYDONIAN DESERT- DAY
[Catherine points to a city]
CATHERINE
Are we...going there?
KASUF
Na-nay. That's the city of Nagada. Many people. Many questions. I cannot take you there. Our secret cave lies hidden beneath the city.
CATHERINE
Nagada ?
KASUF
Nagada.
[They continue walking]
KASUF
My world is rich with Naquadah. It our privilege to mine it for the Gods. Naquadah flows in the blood of my people. And we are strong. But only our Gods harness its true power to crack thunder in the stars to live among the heavens.
CATHERINE
Kasuf? Where I travel from, Gods no walk with people.
KASUF
I'm sorry? I believe your Gods still love you.
CATHERINE
What if the love you believe in from Ra or Aset. What if they faking the love all along?
KASUF
The love of a God cannot be faked.
CATHERINE
But they tricked you into being their uh...slaves.
KASUF
Slaves? Slaves?
CATHERINE
Don't want be to be free?
KASUF
Free? I am. I am free, Catherine. I believe your Gods walk with you even if you cannot see them.
[Catherine shows Ra's necklace]
CATHERINE
Kasuf, your power comes from within and is strong among your people. It is not something Ra or Aset can own. Never mind, Kasuf. We have to keep going.
INT- ABYDOS, ABYDONIAN CAMP- DAY
MOTAWK
The city of Nagada. Ra's temple. The Naquadah mines. Ra's naquadah.
WASIF
These stones they mine, allow Ra absolute power in the stars. And all who stand against him, are punished in white fire. What will happen when we get home?
JAMES
With me and Cat, I...
WASIF
No, the portal. It's far too dangerous for our uncertain world.
JAMES
If it were up to me, nobody would ever go through the blasted thing again.
WASIF
But it won't be up to you. And they won't keep quiet.
JAMES
Why does he keep taking your hand?
WASIF
Local custom. I believe? I don't know.
JAMES
Nobody's ever tried to take my hand. Right. We best be going.
[Wasif and Motawk look at each other and smile shyly]
EXT- ABYDOS, NAGADA SECRET CAVE- DAY
KASUF
Yu-yu.
CATHERINE
Tap-huh?
KASUF
Tee-yu.
CATHERINE
Come on.
[They enter the cave. Kasuf shows Catherine the stone stele where he saw the symbols in the notebook]
KASUF
Like your forbidden book.
CATHERINE
I've seen these before. Kasuf, I could kiss you. The completed sequence.
KASUF
Stars.
CATHERINE
Yeah, this is what I needed.
[Catherine gives him the torch to retrieve his notebook from his bag. Kasuf finds the flashlight and plays with it. Catherine tells him to hold it so he can read]
KASUF
Sorry, sorry!
[Catherine writes in the notebook]
CATHERINE
What do you say, Kasuf? Will this take us home? Come on, let's go. Hold on. If Brucke didn't have these in his journal, then he'll need to come here before he leaves. I really hate to do this.
[Catherine strikes the stele with her foot to break it]
KASUF
Na-nay! Na-nay!
[The end of the stele falls and Catherine knocks on it to destroy the symbol. She covers it with sand and stands up]
CATHERINE
Okay. Kasuf!
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE, GATE ROOM- SUNSET
[They enter the room and James leads]
MOTAWK
My people will take this away. Our labors will never benefit that bad man who robbed us of Aset.
WASIF
He says that...
JAMES
Yeah, I got it.
WASIF
I've been thinking about what you said back in Cairo.
JAMES
Yes, you should give up playing dominoes?
WASIF
That love occurs when you least expect it.
JAMES
Now? You want to debate this now?
WASIF
No, not debate.
JAMES
Trust me, love has a way of sneaking up on you.
CATHERINE
James! I got it.
[They embrace]
CATHERINE
We can go home.
JAMES
You found it? The seventh symbol. Incredible.
CATHERINE
And I destroyed the only carving. That son of a bitch is never getting out of here.
JAMES
Well done.
CATHERINE
Unless Aset opens the gate for him.
CATHERINE & JAMES
Damn it!
CATHERINE
We need to act now.
JAMES
Now? The plan. The diversion? We haven't... Okay. Let's go.
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE- DAY
BRUCKE
Now, what shall be done with you? Your translation work has been excellent. Better than expected. Perhaps, there in lies the answer. Why not remain here, doing what you love? A bridge between our two worlds. Don't thank me. Tell her.
LANGFORD
You show great power. Now show great wisdom. Brucke will turn his back on you. Dangerous. He is dangerous. Treacherous.
BRUCKE
That didn't go over so well. What did you tell her?
[Brucke knocks Langford down. As he falls, Langford drops Catherine's hair clip. Brucke picks it up]
BRUCKE
Catherine's hairpin? Where did you get this? How is this here?
LANGFORD
I am not a treacherous.
BRUCKE
Enough!
ASET
Release him.
BRUCKE
What are you doing? He's mine!
[Serqet unties Langford's hands. Eva starts filming]
LANGFORD
You should've studied languages. They certainly do come in handy.
BRUCKE
What did you tell her?
LANGFORD
Catherine is here, and I doubt she came alone, you Nazi son of a bitch.
[They start to fight. Serqet wants to intervene but Aset stops him]
ASET
Serqet. They prefer to fight their own battles.
[Brucke and Langford continue to fight. Eva films the fight. Suddenly, Brucke points his gun at him]
LANGFORD
You turned your back on humanity. You're not God. You're not even a man.
BRUCKE
Well played, Professor. You've grown a nice little spine for yourself. Unfortunately, it ends now. You have to die.
[Suddenly the room goes dark. A goa'uld mothership descends on the temple. The baby starts to cry. Aset stands up]
ASET
Ra!
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE, GATE ROOM- DAY
JAMES
We need to get out of here.
CATHERINE
Not without my father. Here, Brucke's journal, just in case.
[James kisses Catherine]
MOTAWK
Why now?
WASIF
He fears he might never again
[Motawk kisses Wasif]
WASIF
I tried to tell you.
JAMES
When you least expect it.
WASIF
Yes.
KASUF
What the fuck? Come on!
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE- DAY
LANGFORD
Shoot me now, and you lose your voice here.
BRUCKE
It does not matter now. The deal is done.
[Catherine appears and points her gun at Brucke]
CATHERINE
Get away from him.
BRUCKE
Fraulein!
LANGFORD
Catherine!
[Brucke takes cover behind Langford and still points his gun at him]
CATHERINE
I told you there is nowhere you could hide from me. Now let him go.
BRUCKE
Or what?
CATHERINE
Or I pull the trigger.
BRUCKE
No, I don't believe you would, you see, I have the power...
[She fires]
BRUCKE
You can't harm a God.
[She fires again. Eva continues to film. Brucke's gun falls to the ground and he collapses on the floor]
BRUCKE
You need to realize who you are dealing with.
CATHERINE
A sad, pathetic, power-hungry Nazi.
BRUCKE
Nazis are nothing. Hitler is nothing. I have no longer any need for them, not when I have this.
[He shows a piece of Naquadah in his hand]
CATHERINE
I told you I'd hunt you down.
[She reloads her weapon, ready to fire]
LANGFORD
Catherine.
[His father touches her shoulder]
LANGFORD
He's not worth it.
[She lowers her weapon. Her father retrieves the weapon from Catherine's hands and embraces her]
LANGFORD
I've been so worried about you.
CATHERINE
I know, I-
BRUCKE
Weakness. I'm surrounded by it.
[Brucke picks up a weapon hidden in his boot and stands up]
BRUCKE
I am strong. I cannot die.
[He points at Catherine and her father but Eva shoots him several times. Brucke falls to the ground]
BRUCKE
Eva...
EVA
Heil Hitler.
[Brucke dies. A tear rolls down Eva's cheek. Serqet shoots Eva]
SERQET
For Ra!
[The camera continues to roll, then stops. Serqet is about to shoot Catherine and her father but James intervenes and shoots her]
JAMES
Wasif! Motawk! Go get more help. Go!
CATHERINE
Open the gate, James, the new sequence is in the journal. We're right behind you.
ASET
Stop!
LANGFORD
No harm from us comes to you. Let us return home.
ASET
I cannot release you.
LANGFORD
Please... If not me... My child?
ASET
She is your daughter?
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE, GATE ROOM- DAY
[James enters the Stargate room, and begins to dial the address of Earth with the help of the notebook]
JAMES
One... Two... Three...
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE- DAY
ASET
You are unlike the others but you still pose a danger. You will remember nothing of this.
[Aset raises his hand and uses his goa'uld ribbon bracelet on Langford]
CATHERINE
Father!
ASET
You will forget the language of the Gods.
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE, GATE ROOM- DAY
[James keeps dial the Stargate]
JAMES
Four... Five... Six...
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE- DAY
[Catherine pleads with Aset but she uses the goa'uld ribbon bracelet on her too]
ASET
Your time here will remain a fog.
[Kasuf wants to intervene but suffers the same fate]
ASET
Go to the city and lead the people of Nagada. (to Catherine) You will return to Earth and assemble a team to one day return through the Stargate with a power great enough to destroy Ra.
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE, GATE ROOM- DAY
[James finish the dialing of the Stargate]
JAMES
Seven. Come on.
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE- DAY
[Catherine's nose bleeds from the torture and she starts to forget]
ASET
You shall mark this team with your Eye of Ra pendant.
JAMES (Catherine's memories)
Don't leave, Catherine!
LANGFORD (Catherine's memories)
This is your legacy as well. Catherine, I hope you realize you don't have to leave Egypt on my account.
[Catherine is confused. A tear runs down her cheek. She looks at her hand and then notices that her nose is bleeding. She touches her father's shoulder]
INT - EARTH, WAREHOUSE - DAY
[The stargate activates and Heinrich turns around]
INT - ABYDOS, TEMPLE, GATE ROOM - DAY
[James is surprised by the active vortex]
INT - ABYDOS, TEMPLE - DAY
ASET
It's time.
[Kasuf stands up. Suddenly the transport rings are activated]
RA
Aset. I have come for you!
[Catherine touches her necklace. She is still confused, her father too. James comes over to them]
JAMES
Cat! The symbols, they worked!
[He kneels down in front of Catherine, puts his hands around her face, worried]
JAMES
Oh, my God. You all right? What happened?
[He embraces her]
JAMES
It's open. We can go home.
[James helps lift them up to get them to the Stargate. He sees the nanny holding the baby in her arms, and Aset talks to her]
ASET
Go! Go! Get her to safety.
[Ra enters, with Serqet]
RA
Allowing your resurrection was a mistake. Serqet was right to warn me.
ASET
Allow me to explain.
RA
Explain what? How the Earthlings reopened the Stargate? How you kept that from me? Your intentions are clear. And now...
[He reaches out to the baby and the baby starts to cry]
RA
A forbidden Harcesis child? Your defiance of me is boundless.
ASET
Serqet?
SERQET
You choices were hazardous. I regret nothing. For my loyalties, I shall be greatly rewarded.
RA
Guards, capture the rebel slaves. Serqet, stop the Earthlings.
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE, GATE ROOM- DAY
[James points to the activated wormhole to Catherine]
JAMES
We can go home.
[James hears Serqet arrive]
JAMES
She's coming. Get down.
[He helps Catherine and her father to protect themselves behind the DHD]
[Serqet fires her spear. James returns fire with his weapon. Catherine and her father cover their ears]
INT- EARTH, WAREHOUSE - DAY
[Heinrich looks at the activated wormhole and gives a Nazi salute]
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE, GATE ROOM- DAY
[Serqet fires, the blast goes through the wormhole]
INT- EARTH, WAREHOUSE - DAY
[The blast passes through the wormhole and kills Heinrich]
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE, GATE ROOM- DAY
[James takes cover behind a wall]
JAMES
Wasif! Motawk!
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE, PRISON- DAY
[Ra uses the Kara'kesh on Wasif and Motawk]
RA
So young. So able bodied. So many years of servitude before you...
[Anubis and Horus helmets are installed on them]
RA
Prepare the ship.
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE, GATE ROOM- DAY
[James continues to shoot. He grabs Catherine and her father, and pushes them through the gate. They pass through the wormhole but Serqet knocks James down before he can get through]
CATHERINE
(voice) James! We can go home.
[James smiles and Serqet shoots. James dies]
EXT- ABYDOS, DAY
RA
(voice) The Stargate must now be moved. The dialing device must be repaired. This temple is corrupt.
EXT- SPACE
[Mothership fires on the temple]
INT- ABYDOS, TEMPLE- DAY

[Kasuf heads for the city]
INT- EARTH, WAREHOUSE - DAY
BRITISH AGENT MAN
Well, I guess they were lucky. Whatever it was they were working on ended up killing that Nazi, and, apparently, wiped both of their memories.
AMERICAN AGENT WOMAN
The doctor did seem convinced that the memory loss was genuine.
BRITISH AGENT MAN
I don't like it.
AMERICAN AGENT WOMAN Regardless, that cable that we intercepted from Berlin, suggests these Germans are keen to acquire whatever this thing is.
[She notices that Langford is there]
LANGFORD
This thing...is my life's work, thank you very much.
BRITISH AGENT MAN
You're certain you never encountered our missing British officer, Captain James Beal?
LANGFORD
It's possible, but I don't know.
[Catherine arrives]
CATHERINE
Don't know what, Father?
LANGFORD
They are asking about Captain Beal again. I don't remember ever meeting him.
AMERICAN AGENT WOMAN
James Beal, has he contacted you?
CATHERINE
James?
BRITISH AGENT MAN
What about Wasif Alabu Khan.
CATHERINE
I don't know anyone by that name, but I do recall meeting James at the market. He was handsome. We made... I believe we made plans to meet again.
BRITISH AGENT MAN
He isn't the type to simply go AWOL. If you can remember anything even if it seems trivial, please contact the British Embassy when you arrive in the States.
LANGFORD
Of course.
AMERICAN AGENT WOMAN
We'll leave you to your packing.
[She notices Catherine's necklace]
AMERICAN AGENT WOMAN
My! That is a beautiful necklace.
CATHERINE
Thank you, I always thought it might bring me luck one day.
[Agents leave]
BRITISH AGENT MAN
Apparently the Germans have been funding them for years...
CATHERINE
I do hope they find James.
LANGFORD
Oh! I found this...lying next to the ring. So unique.
[Catherine takes the piece of naquadah from her father's hand]
CATHERINE
It's mine, I believe. For the life of me, I... I can't recall where I found it.
[She sighs and they turn to the wooden box where the Stargate is locked]
LANGFORD
Well, I can't believe it's all over.
CATHERINE
Something tells me it's only just beginning.
[Her father places a kiss on her cheek]
LANGFORD
Ready to go?
[She nods]
CATHERINE
Yeah. Yeah. See at home.
[She looks around, then turns around, starts walking and examines the piece of naquadah between her fingers]
